Tato práce si klade za úkol zpracovat dostupný materiál týkající se obecné a stavební historie kostela sv. Vavřince ve Vsi na Frýdlantsku a vytvořit přehled dosavadního bádání. Pro důkladné poznání situace objektu je středem zájmu našeho zkoumání dokumentace, popis a analýza jeho architektonické podoby a na základě vyhodnocení nálezů navržení datace vzniku stavby. Další z cílů práce představuje pokus o posouzení místa kostela v rámci regionálního kulturně-historického i architektonického kontextu a v tomto smyslu také přehled širší situace pozdně gotické stavební produkce v severočeské oblasti relevantní časové roviny a vyhledání nejbližších příkladů obdobného architektonického řešení. Závěrem se práce věnuje snaze o definování charakteru vztahu veseckého kostela k širšímu fenoménu české gotické architektury, dvoulodí, s důrazem na jeho centralizovanou formu. Součástí je nástin možností obecného pojímání této problematiky a úvahy o specifičtějších faktorech, které v rámci tohoto jevu mohly nést podíl na formulaci svébytné výtvarné podoby veseckého kostela. This work aims to gather all information possible concerning the general and architectural history of the church of Saint Lawrence in Ves in the region of Frýdlantsko and to summarize the research conducted until now. In order to examine the situation of the church the primary point of our research is the documentation, description and the analysis of its architectural form based on interpreting of the acquired knowledge. Next objective is to attempt to define the place of the church in the cultural, historical and architectural context of the region and thus to make a broader overview of the late gothic architectural activity in northern Bohemia of the relevant period of time and to find the closest examples using similar architectural scheme. Then the work treats with the definition of the relationship of the church to the phenomenon of double-nave plan churches, especially the central type, in Czech medieval architecture. Finally some ways in which the question of employment of double-nave planning can be viewed in general are presented together with some ideas about the specifics, which might have possibly influenced the creation of the artistic form of the church in Ves.
