Tato práce mapuje celé dílo pozdně barokního pražského architekta Antonína Schmidta. Soustředí se zejména na jeho sakrální tvorbu v čele s kostelem sv. Michaela Archanděla ve Smržovce, který se řadí k významným příkladům dynamické linie české architektury 2. poloviny 18. století. Důkladně diskutovány jsou zde ale i jeho palácové a zámecké stavby či dochované plány. Antonín Schmidt se jeví jako významná postava české pozdně barokní architektury. Na jednu stranu čerpal z domácí vrcholně barokní tradice a díla K. I. Dientzenhofera aj. J. J. Wircha. Na druhou stranu však patřil mezi tvůrce, kteří do našeho prostředí velmi brzy vnášeli evropsky aktuální motivy klasicismu. Pro jeho dílo je proto charakteristická poučená slohová syntéza spojená s velkou architektonickou kultivovaností. Kromě smržovského kostela lze mezi jeho nejdůležitější díla zařadit kostel sv. Bartoloměje v Černoučku, Kounický palác na Malé Straně v Praze a zámek v Zahrádce u České Lípy. Práce přináší rovněž objev dosud neznámé architektovy stavby, a sice kostel sv. Jana Nepomuckého na Skalce. This thesis is dealing with life and work of Anton Schmidt, the remarkable architect of czech late baroque period. The text focuses mainly on his sacral architecture, especially on St. Michael Archanděl in Smržovka, which represents the notable example of baroque dynamism in czech architecture of the second half of the 18th century. Anton Schmidt is recognized as very important figure of czech late baroque architecture. He followed the tradition of domestic high baroque epoque and the work of K. I. Dientzenhofer. But on the other hand, Schmidt introduced various motifs of neoclasicissm very early into czech milieu. Therefore the typical feature of his architecture is the synthesis of styles combined with refine architectural language. His most important works are - besides the church in Smržovka - church St. Bartoloměj in Černouček, Kounický palace in Prague- Malá Strana and castle in Zahrádky u České Lípy. This thesis brings also a new discovery of previously unknown Schmid's structure - church St. Jan Nepomucký na Poušti in Železný Brod.
