Per- a polyfluoroalkylované sloučeniny jsou syntetické organické látky, které mají kvůli jejich fyzikálně- chemickým vlastnostem vysoké uplatnění v mnoha spotřebitelských výrobcích, jako jakou hasící pěny nebo čisticí prostředky. V souvislosti s celosvětovým použitím a jejich dlouhé době setrvání v životním prostředí, byly nalezeny jejich koncentrace i v odlehlých oblastech bez přímých okolních zdrojů, včetně rostlin, živočichů a lidí. Koncentrace PFAS v povrchových vodách a podzemních vodách se pohybují v jednotkách až desítkách ng/l, v případě silných bodových zdrojů až stovkách ng/l. V mořích a oceánech jsou koncentrace PFAS kvůli ředění nejčastěji v řádu jednotek až desítek pg/l. Kvůli jejich negativním účinkům na lidské zdraví byly 2 nejčastěji diskutované sloučeniny perfluorooktanová kyselina a perfluorooktansulfonát zařazeny mezi perzistentní organické polutanty. Na základě toxikologických studií se však jeví jako toxických i mnoho dalších sloučenin z této skupiny, proto jsou některými státy zavedeny doporučené limity pro jejich omezení. Pitné vody mají koncentrace v řádech jednotek až desítek ng/l, a tak obecně nepřekračují doporučující hodnoty. V oblastech bodových znečišťujících zdrojů jsou však hladiny PFAS silně zvýšené, a proto by se měl brát zřetel na jejich identifikaci a následné... Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are synthetic organic compounds which, due to their physicochemical properties, have a high application in many consumer products such as aqueous film forming foams or detergents. In the context with their worldwide use and their long persistance in the environment their concentrations also have been detected in remote areas without direct surrounding sources including plants, animals and humans. PFAS concentrations in surface water and groundwater range from tens of ng/l, in the case of strong point sources to hundreds of ng/l. In the seas and oceans, PFAS concentrations are most often in the tens of pg/l due to dilution. The 2 most frequently discussed substances, perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctanesulfonate, have been classified as a persistent organic pollutants because of their negative effects on human health. However, based on toxicological studies, many other substances in this group also appear to be toxic so some countries have set recommended limits for their reduction. Drinking waters have concentrations in the order of units up to tens of ng/l and therefore generally do not exceed the recommended values.
