Abstrakt: Daria Chuprasova Historical Memory of the First World War in Russia in 2014-2018 Abstract The historical memory of the First World War in Russia was formed under the influence of the Soviet policy of memory. The loss in the war, the collapse of the Russian Empire, the Civil War, the Great Patriotic War led to the fact that the First World War in Russia was called "forgotten" for a long time. In 2014-2018, the whole world celebrated the anniversary of the First World War. The Russian government began to bring the memory of the war back into public discourse, shaping new heroic narratives. Most of the events in 2014-2018 were held in areas close to traditional ones for working with memory: in museums, at exhibitions, in heritage (monuments, memorial plaques). Less attention was paid to war in the broader media space. The most notable non-traditional events include the military-historical festival Times and Epochs and several films related to the First World War, which were filmed during the jubilee years. The results of public opinion polls conducted in 2014 and 2018 show that these events had had a rather low memorial effect. In general, the knowledge of Russians about the First World War remained the same as before the anniversary years.
