Slovanský jazykový atlas patří k nejvýznamnějším projektům slovanské jazykovědy, má mimořádný význam nejen pro lingvistiku, ale i pro řadu dalších vědních disciplín (např. historii, etnologii, kulturologii, religionistiku). Myšlenka celoslovanského atlasu pochází již z r. 1929, uskutečňovat se začala až na přelomu 50. a 60. let 20. století. Jedním ze zakladatelů Slovanského jazykového atlasu byl český lingvista B. Havránek. Z českých dialektologů má významný podíl na tvorbě tohoto jazykovězeměpisného díla J. Bělič, S. Utěšený, A. Vašek, K. Fic, J. Vojtová aj. V současné době česká národní komise zpracovává svazek foneticko-gramatické série Reflexy *tort, *tolt, *tert, *telt. The Slavic Linguistic Atlas belongs to the most significant projects of the Slavic linguistics. It is extraordinarily important not only for linguistics, but also for a range of other scientific branches (e.g. history, ethnology, culturology, religionistics). The idea of the all-Slavic atlas originated as early as in 1929 and started to come into existence at the break of the 50th and 60th of the 20th century. One of the founders of the Slavic Linguistic Atlas was also the Czech linguist Bohuslav Havránek. Of the Czech dialectologists, J. Bělič, S. Utěšený, A. Vašek, K. Fic, J. Vojtová, and others have taken a notable share in the creation of this geolinguistic work. At present, the Czech National Committee processes the volume Reflections of *tort, *tolt, *tert, *telt of the fonetic-grammatical series.
