Abstrakt (česky) Tato práce se zabývá teorií a praxí přístupu k romskému obyvatelstvu ze strany československého státu v prvních letech diktatury KSČ. Autor se v ní zabývá jednak specifiky komunistické politiky a jejím ideologickým pozadím, zároveň pak ověřuje formu její praktické aplikace v lokálním kontextu města Ústí nad Labem a okolí. Při zkoumání místních poměrů se zaměřuje na konzervativní či progresivní aspekty prosazovaných řešení, jejíchž rozdělením se autor inspiroval v pracích historika Matěje Spurného. Podoba lokálního přístupu k romským spoluobčanům je zde vnímána nejen ve vztahu k dané minoritě jakožto objektu těchto přístupů, nýbrž i ve vztahu ke způsobu fungování komunistického režimu jako takového a jeho schopnosti přetvářet člověka. (in English): This work is focused on the theory and practice of the Czechoslovak state in the approach towards Roma in the first years of the KSČ dictatorship. Author is concentrating not only on the specifics of the communist politics and its ideological background, he is also dealing with the practical application of these politics in the local context of Ústí nad Labem. At the research of local circumstances he is focusing on the conservative and progressive aspects of the asserted politics, by which he was inspired in the works of the historian Matěj Spurný. The shape of the local approach towards Roma citizens is perceived not only in relation to Romani themselves, but also to the way of functioning of the communist regime and its ability to transform a human being.
