Metabolický syndrom je soubor rizikových faktorů, mezi které se řadí abdominální obezita, arteriální hypertenze, dyslipidémie a poruchy glukózového metabolismu (prediabetes či diabetes mellitus 2. typu). Tento syndrom postihuje zhruba jednu čtvrtinu celkové populace a nese sebou rizika vzniku především kardiovaskulárních onemocnění. Kromě toho ale zasahuje i do jiných oblastí zdraví, proto se jedná o velmi důležité téma. Tato práce je rozdělena na dvě části. V první části, která je teoretická, jsou popsány informace ohledně metabolického syndromu, tedy jeho přesná diagnostická kritéria, příčiny vzniku, jeho hlavní rizika, prevence a farmakologická a nefarmakologická léčba, která může být invazivní (bariatrická chirurgie), ale především spočívá v úpravě životního stylu. Druhá část práce (praktická) spočívá ve výzkumu formou dotazníkového šetření. Otázky byly určeny pro pacienty přicházející prvně do obezitologické ambulance a týkaly se především nynějších zdravotních potíží a dosavadního životního stylu pacientů. Ukázalo se, že více než polovina pacientů splňovala kritéria pro metabolický syndrom a na obezitu byla nejvíce vázána hypertenze, kterou měly 2/3 pacientů. Co se životního stylu týče, nepříznivě dopadly odpovědi ohledně pohybu, který pravidelně vykonávalo pouze pár pacientů a ohledně... Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors, including abdominal obesity, arterial hypertension, dyslipidemia and glucose metabolism disorders (prediabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus). This syndrome affects about a quarter of the total population and raises the risk for developing especially cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it also affects other health areas, so this problem is very serious. This work consists of two parts. Part one, theoretical, describes metabolic syndrome, i.e. its precise diagnostic criteria, causes, main risks, prevention and pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment, which may be invasive (bariatric surgery), but mainly consists in lifestyle changes. Part two of the thesis, practical, presents a research in the form of a questionnaire survey. The questions were intended for patients visiting the obesity clinic for the first time and were mainly related to the current health problems and the patients' current lifestyle. Over a half of the patients met the metabolic syndrome criteria, 2/3 of the patients had hypertension, and of all factors, hypertension was most associated with obesity.
