Východiska: Jako metanolová otrava se označuje sled událostí započatých na podzim roku 2012, kdy na celém území ČR došlo k masové sérii otrav metanolem. Případy otrav se od samého počátku těšily velkému zájmu médií. Způsob, jakým masmédia informovala o průběhu otravy (zdraví ohrožující události) a plnila tak svou veřejnou úlohu patří mezi důležité téma v rámci adiktologické debaty. Cíle: Primárním cílem práce byla kvantitativní a následná kvalitativní analýza vybraného časového úseku metanolové otravy (od 3. září 2012 až do 5. dubna 2018 z hlediska jejího podání, interpretace a prezentace v celostátních tištěných českých sdělovacích prostředcích. Vzorek a metody: Analyzován byl homogenní vzorek 366 článků pomocí 33 výzkumných kódů. Zdrojem zpráv pro kódování byla mediální databáze společnosti Newton media monitoring. Sebraná data byla utříděna do kontingenčních a asociačních tabulek a podrobena statistické analýze. Pomocí standardních nástrojů (Pearsonův test významnosti χ2) se potvrzovaly nebo zamítaly predikované hypotézy o souvislosti (závislosti) získaných znaků. Paretova analýza identifikovala média s největším vlivem. Výsledky: Prací bylo dosaženo odpovědí na řadu specifických otázek: Jakým stylem (68,5 % publicistický, 33,6 zpravodajský), formami (38,5 % informační forma sdělení; 36,8 %... Background: "Methanol poisoning" case is a sequence of events that began in the autumn of 2012, when a mass series of methanol poisoning occurred throughout the Czech Republic. The case had great coverage by Czech media. The way that the mass media informed about the evolvement of the poisoning cases (health-threatening events with the drug dimension) and how they fulfilled their public role remains to be one of the important problems of contemporary addictology theories. Aims: The primary goals of this paper were both quantitative and subsequently qualitative analysis of the selected time period of methanol poisoning cases (from 3 September 2019 to 5 April 2018 in terms of their interpretation and presentation in national printed Czech media). Sample and Methods: A homogenous sample of 366 articles was analyzed using 33 research variables. The source of news for coding was the Newton media monitoring media database. The collected data were sorted into pivot and association tables and subjected to statistical analysis. Using standard tools (Pearson's chi-squared test), predicted hypotheses about the correlation (dependence) of acquired attributes were confirmed or rejected.
