(CZ) Občanská společnost je tvořena angažovanými jednotlivci, nevládními neziskovými organizacemi, jejich zaměstnanci, dobrovolníky, dalšími podporovateli a také vztahy mezi těmito aktéry. Aktivity občanské společnosti zahrnují rozvoj komunit, realizaci volnočasových i profesních zájmů, služby ohroženým skupinám, ale také snahy zasahovat do politického procesu a prosazovat určitou legislativu a systémovou změnu. Právě na ty poslední jmenované se zaměřuje tato práce. V úvodní kapitole se věnuji přehledu dosavadního výzkumu občanské společnosti a politického aktivismu v České republice a ostatních post-komunistických zemích střední a východní Evropy. V této kapitole identifikuji pět centrálních tezí, které lze na základě existujícího výzkumu zformulovat, a podrobuji je kritickému zhodnocení. Na základě toho pak tvrdím, že na pozadí celé diskuse lze rozlišit dva proudy literatury, které se ve svém hodnocení kvality občanské společnosti v regionu střední a východní Evropy rozcházejí, a snažím se ozřejmit důvody těchto rozporů. Ve druhé kapitole nabízím přehled teorií sociálních hnutí, čímž dotvářím teoretický základ pro empirickou část práce. Mnoho otázek souvisejících s tím, jak aktéři občanské společnosti vstupují do politického procesu, lze totiž zkoumat prizmatem teorie sociálních hnutí.... (EN) Civil society is made up of committed individuals, non-governmental non-profit organizations, their employees, volunteers, and other supporters, as well as relations among these actors. Civil society activities include community development, advancement of leisure and professional interests, services to vulnerable groups, as well as efforts to intervene in the political process and to support certain legislation and systemic change. This work focuses on the latter, i.e. the ways how civil society actors influence the political process. In the introductory chapter I present an overview of the current research of civil society and political activism in the Czech Republic and other post-communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe. In this chapter, I identify five central propositions that can be formulated on the basis of existing scientific discussion and I subject them to a critical assessment. In addition, I argue that against the backdrop of the discussion, two streams of literature can be distinguished which differ in their assessment of civil society's quality in Central and Eastern Europe.
