Příspěvek se zabývá problematikou malých obcí a jejich působností na území České republiky. Geografická analýza obsahuje teoretický a metodologický úvod (zahrnující mimo jiné i definici malých obcí), hodnocení disparit mezi jednotlivými regiony a dále podrobnější rozbor situace ve třech vybraných regionech (jedná se o Jihomoravský kraj, Kraj Vysočina a kraj Královehradecký), v rámci kterých bylo realizováno v průběhu srpna a září 2007 dotazníkové šetření s některými představiteli malých obcí. The contribution is dealing with issue of the small municipalities and their powers on the territory of the Czech Republic. The geographical analysis of the issue brings theoretical and methodological introduction (including definition of the small municipalities), evaluation of the differences between regions and more detailed characteristics of the situation in three selected regions (South Moravian Region, Vysočina Region, Hradec Králové Region), where was realized the questionnaire survey with some mayors of the small municipalities in August and in September 2007.
