Abstract: In the paper, Czech laskonka ‘a kind of sweet dessert’ is explained as a result of the shortening of the word laskomin(k)a ‘appetite, desire‘, ‘delicacy, dainty’, which goes back to Common Slavonic *oskomina, probably an Early Romance loanword.
