Lukáš Černý Tragický jazyk mlčení Abstrakt Práce se zabývá Euripidovou Alkestis optikou její žánrové transgresivity, kterou v rámci hry představuje moment hrdinčina mlčení při jejím návratu ze záhrobí. Nejde tu však o transgresi směrem ke komedii nebo satyrskému dramatu, které se z různých důvodů věnuje většina klasických filologů, ale pouze o vztah k samotné tragické formě, která je tu zároveň naplňována a zároveň porušována. Klíč k tomuto žánrovému zařazení spatřuji v principu tragické ironie, která je stavebním prvkem celé hry a všech jejích postav, ale také v tragickém charakteru samotné Alkestis. Jako bytostná tragická hrdinka, která doslova vládne jazykem, Alkestis umírá pro spásu polis (a ne pouze pro osobu svého manžela), a zároveň aby obnovila rozvrácený řád nevyhnutelné smrti. Jejím tragickým vykoupením je to, že díky svému aktivnímu tragickému jazyku svoji smrt překonává a zajišťuje si nesmrtelnost. Když se však Alkestis na konci hry vrací jako pasivní a němý objekt, jak píše Victorie Wohl, její smrt byla popřena, a tedy i nutně její jazyk a celý smysl jejího aktu. Jde o konec nikoliv šťastný, ale horší než tragický, kde se Alkestis ocitá na hranicích žánru tragédie. Tuto transgresi nacházím mimo jiné na základě tezí o tragickém jazyce a tragické smrti z díla Waltera Benjamina a Terryho... Lukáš Černý Tragic language of silence Abstract The thesis deals with the transgression of the tragic genre in Euripides'Alcestis, which as a moment can be found in the last scene of the play where Alcestis is mute after her return from the underworld. I am not concerned with the play's trespassing towards the genres of comedy or satyr drama however, as numerous scholars are, but merely with its fulfilment and violation of the tragic form. To uphold tragedy as the genre most relevant to the play's interpretation, I represent the play as an ultimate development of the tragic irony but, most of all, I regard the tragic characteristics of the Alcestis herself. As a tragic character, Alcestis dies to save the polis (much more than to save her husband), she reestablishes the natural order of death and, thanks to her capacity for tragic speech, she also wins immortality of a certain sort. But when she is brought back from the dead as a mute passive object, as Victoria Wohl puts it, the purpose of her death, language, and therefore her existence itself is disclaimed. With this ending being worse than tragic, Alcestis finds herself at the brink of the tragic form.
