Diplomová práce s názvem "Požár v Měděnci: od reality a novinových a TV zpráv k filmovému zpracování, až po filmové recenze" pojednává o kriminálním případu Evy Kováčové, která v noci 1. listopadu roku 1984 zapálila Ústav sociální péče v Měděnci, a připravila tak o život dvacet šest mentálně postižených dívek. Motiv byl útěk z ústavu, kam byla chybně zařazená, a pomsta zaměstnankyním ústavu, jež k její výchově podle Kováčové používaly drsné metody a tresty. Za tento čin byla odsouzená k pětiletému trestu odnětí svobody. V roce 1990 vyšla publicistická kniha s názvem Brutalita novináře Josefa Klímy, ve které se případem detailně zabýval. Kniha dále sloužila jako předloha pro scénář k filmu Filipa Renče Requiem pro panenku, který měl premiéru v roce 1991. Podle zaměstnanců ústavu tento film překrucuje realitu a z vychovatelek vytvořil krutá monstra, naopak z Evy Kováčové oběť. Práce má za cíl prezentovat výsledky referování o této kauze od novinových článků, Klímovy Brutality, filmu Filipa Renče, až po filmové recenze a bulvární boom po roce 2009, kdy případ opět otevřel novinář Tomáš Poláček. Součástí práce je i hloubkový rozhovor s páterem Františkem Líznou, u kterého Eva Kováčová pobývala po propuštění z věznice a se kterým udržovala vřelý vztah až do její smrti v roce 2014. Diploma Thesis titled 'Fire in Meďenec: from reality, newspaper and TV news to the film interpretation and film reviews' examines the criminal case of Eva Kovačová, who set a social care home on fire on the night of September 1st 1984, and thereby took the lives of twenty six mentally handicapped girls. Her motives were was escaping the institute into which she was wrongly admitted and revenge against its employees who used harsh methods and cruel punishments. For this crime she was sentenced to five years imprisonment. The year 1990 saw the release of a book titled Brutality by journalist Josef Klime, which dealt with the case in detail. The book further served as an inspiration for the script to Filip Renč's film Requiem pro panenku, which premiered in 1991. According to the employees of the home, the film twists reality by portraying the caretakers as cruel monsters and Eva Kovacova as the victim. The purpose of the Thesis is to present the narrative regarding this case from newspapper articles, Klima's Brutality, Filip Renč's film to the film reviews and the tabloid boom after the year 2009, when the case was re-opened by journalist Tomáš Poláček.
