cze Abstract:
The goal is to show how hedges interact with cognition and its importance in how we form and understand the meaning of an utterance. This has been done by examining propositional hedges in relation to relevance theory and relational hedges in relation to the grammatical category of evidentiality. Hedges and hedging are important means of our everyday communication, one without which it would be impossible to express what we mean.
