Bakalářská práce se zabývá otázkou vztahů Spojených států amerických vůči Tchaj- wanu během administrativy prezidenta Baracka Obamy. Konkrétně je otázka zkoumána z pohledu analýzy politiky Baracka Obamy vůči Tchaj-wanu, velká pozornost je věnována prodeji amerických zbraní Tchaj-wanu. V práci je nejprve uvedeno historické pozadí, které dokresluje vývoj americko-tchajwanských vztahů, čímž představuje základ pro vztahy současné, tyto informace jsou pak dále využívány pro komparaci právě s Obamovou administrativou. Následně je charakterizován politický postoj prezidenta Baracka Obamy vůči Tchaj-wanu a dalším politickým tématům, která vztahy s Tchaj- wanem ovlivňují. Zvláštní důraz je věnován politice rebalancování do Asie (Pivot to Asia) a jaký vliv to mohlo mít právě na vztahy s Tchaj-wanem. Nakonec jsou analyzovány obchodní vztahy Tchaj-wanu a Spojených států během administrativy Baracka Obamy. Hlavní důraz je především kladen na obchod se zbraněmi, což je jeden z hlavních atributů podle, kterých jsou vztahy Spojených států k Tchaj-wanu v této práci posuzovány. Obchod se zbraněmi je vybrán z toho důvodu, že má podstatně širší význam, jedná se o součást bezpečnostní otázky a americké zahraniční politiky nejen k Tchaj-wanu ale i celému regionu. The bachelor thesis examines the issue of the relations between the United States of America and Taiwan during the administration of President Barack Obama. More specifically, the issue is examined by analysing the politics of Barack Obama toward Taiwan mainly by scrutinising the trade relations. First, the thesis discusses the historical background of the American relationship with Taiwan, which had a direct influence on the current United States-Taiwan relations. Furthermore, the historical background is used for comparison with the Obama administration. Afterwards, the political stance of former President Barack Obama towards Taiwan is stated. Emphasis is stressed on the Obama policy Pivot to Asia and its influence on American relations with Taiwan. Finally, the thesis analyses trade relations between United States and Taiwan during the Obama administration. The main emphasis is on the arms sales, which is one of the main features this thesis uses to evaluate the American relations with Taiwan. The arm trade between United States and Taiwan is more importantly part of a security question regarding the region.
