S klimatickými změnami, které se vlivem globálního oteplování v arktických oblastech projevují, se otevírá ropným společnostem unikátní možnost rozšířit své zásoby ropy. Avšak i přes nejmodernější techniku přináší operace v oblasti Arktidy a Arktického oceánu obrovské technické překážky. Následky případné katastrofy by v první řadě nesli místní původní obavatelé, kteří jsou na svém okolním životním prostředí závislí. Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na aktivitu ropné společnosti Royal Dutch Shell na Aljašce v letech 2005-2015, kterou analyzuje z pohledu teorie udržitelného rozvoje a z hlediska problematiky společenské odpovědnosti firem. Práce se snaží odpovědět na otázku, zda se dá aktivita Shellu ve sledovaném období a terioritoriu hodnotit jako společensky odpovědná a udržitelná. In spite of rapid technological advancements in drilling techniques operating in the Arctic Ocean pose significant challenges. The aftermath of potential disastre would have in this pristine environment devastating consequences. Locals - native people of the Arctic - would be the first ones, who would be affected. This bachelor thesis is focusing on the activities of oil company Royal Dutch Shell on Alaskan outer continental shelf, and is analysing intertwining relationship of Shell and natives by multilevel approach to the theory of corporate social responsibility.
