The thesis deals with quality management theory as an important part of management science. The primary objective of this work is an identification, formulation and analysis of such managerial issues in quality of higher education, which either are not known, or whose resolution is not considered fully sufficient. The thesis contains a bibliography of more than 200 related scientific works and presents selected issues of quality management in higher education, such as quality perception or its sustainability. Furthermore, the work suggests new methodologies for quality evaluation and demonstrates the use of computer simulations and modelling as a tool for quality management in higher education. Disertační práce se zabývá teorií řízení kvality jakožto důležitou součástí manažerské vědy. Hlavním cílem této práce je identifikace, formulace a analýza takových manažerských problémů v oblasti kvality vysokoškolského vzdělávání, které buďto v dané otázce nejsou známy, nebo jejichž řešení není považováno za plně postačující. Dílo zmiňuje a cituje více než 200 souvisejících vědeckých prací a představuje vybrané problémy řízení kvality ve vysokoškolském vzdělávání, jako je percepce kvality nebo její udržitelnost. Práce dále navrhuje nové metodiky pro hodnocení kvality a demonstruje využití počítačových simulací a modelování jako nástrojů pro řízení kvality ve vysokoškolském vzdělávání.
