Disertační práce se zabývá tepelně technickým posouzením skladby vegetační střechy s vlivem vlhkosti, přesněji vlivem vegetační střechy na tepelnou stabilitu objektu. Cílem této práce je prokázat příznivý účinek vegetační střechy, přesněji vegetačního souvrství, z tepelně-technického hlediska na příznivé teplotní poměry ve stavbě. Takový projev lze zachytit pouze tehdy, jestli-že se posuzuje teplotní průběh dynamicky za denního chodu reálných okrajových klimatických teplot. Použitím stacionárních nebo quasi-stacionárních okrajových klimatických teplot, které se obvykle využívají pro stanovení energetické náročnosti budov, uvedený účinek zachytit nelze. Náročný simulační výpočet, v němž se uplatní materiálové vlastnosti - součinitel tepelné vodivosti, objemová hmotnost i tepelná kapacita, však poskytuje reálný obraz o teplotních pochodech probíhajících nejen ve střešní konstrukci objektu, nýbrž ve všech plošných konstrukcích celého stavebního objektu. V rámci zpracování disertační práce byl sestaven strojový program, který pracuje s toky energií mezi jednotlivými místnostmi v budově a mezi okolním prostředím. Dále počítá teplotní zisky z pobytu osob, vnitřním osvětlením a slunečním zářením. Hodnoty vnitřního prostředí jsou počítány z povrchových teplot, relativní vlhkosti, výměny vzduchu a samozřejmě z vnitřní teploty vzduchu pomocí hodinových klimatických dat. V sestrojeném programu byl zahrnut i výpočet solární radiace jak na rovinném, tak na nakloněném povrchu. Výstupem jsou energetické hodnoty a teplotní stav v jednotlivých místnostech, které zahrnují nejen tepelně-izolační, nýbrž také tepelně-akumulační vlastnosti objektu. Pomocí experimentálních měření se podařilo prokázat, že výpočtové hodnoty těsně korelují reálné tepelné pochody, a tak lze prokázat, díky vypočteným výsledkům, že vegetační střecha má příznivý vliv na teplotní stav zejména v podstřešních místnostech.
