Moje diplomová práce pojednává o nové ekonomické dohodě mezi Spojenými státy a Evropskou unií. Transatlantické obchodní a investiční partnerství (TTIP) se projednává již od roku 2013. Pokud bude tato dohoda schválená, vznikne největší zóna volného obchodu na světě. Cílem této práce je nabídnout komplexní pohled na dohodu TTIP. V práci tvrdím, že je toto partnerství nejen ekonomickou dohodou, ale také odpovědí na změny ve světové politice. Spojené státy a Evropa pociťují, že státy jako Rusko a Čína získávají větší vliv na světovou politiku. Rusko se po 25 letech znovu stává hrozbou a Čína díky svému ekonomickému růstu vznáší pochybnosti o výlučném postavení Západu. V práci se zabývám i vnitřním aspektem dohody, neboť se domnívám, že do vytváření dohody zasahují nejen státy, ale i další aktéři. Cílem práce je najít odpověď na otázku, jestli je TTIP reakcí na změny politiky v současnosti. Pravdivost těchto hypotéz ověřím za použití dvou tradičních rodin teorií mezinárodních vztahů. Jedná se o realismus a liberalismus. Uvědomuji si, že jsou tyto teorie rozvětvené, proto použiji základní premisy a východiska obou směrů. Tento teoretický základ použiji v druhé části práce, ve které se zaměřím na geopolitické aspekty dohody. Dále se zaměřím na samotné vyjednávání o TTIP a zapojení různých aktérů. The aim of this thesis it to offer a complex overview of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). This international agreement is being negotiated between the United States and the European Union. The main goal of this agreement is to create the largest free trade area to date. I wish to claim that the TTIP does not merely concern trade, but there is a clear geopolitical underlining for it too. When the communist world collapsed, the United States became the sole remaining superpower. Nowadays, the West is facing a different world that fosters new challenges as well as opportunities. The rise of China and Russia puts pressure on the West again. The TTIP seeks to reflect new challenges in world politics. A successful agreement would clearly demonstrate that countries across the Atlantic are still the closest partners. In this thesis I aim to find a causal link between this agreement and the current situation ushering in a shifting balance of power in world politics. I intend to employ two main branches of theories of international relations to verify my hypotheses. The first theory, realism, is equipped to answer questions about power and national interests.
