Práce se zabývá výzdobou vybraných šlechtických sídel a pohřebních kaplí se specifickou ikonografii, kde se vyskytuje tématika mementa mori, ať už prostřednictvím personifikace smrti coby kostlivce či lebky, nebo prostřednictvím funerálních nápisů. Práce se zabývá myšlenkovým pozadím chápání smrti na přelomu 16. a 17. století. Tuto výzdobu autorka zařadí do kulturního kontextu prostřednictvím dobové literatury na téma smrti či ars moriendi. Téma bude představeno na příkladech výzdoby zámku v Bechyni, pohřební hrobky v Postřelmově, kaple v Martinickém paláci. Práce bude završena sondou do barokního zobrazení smrti v kryptě v pražské Loretě. Thesis is focused on a decoration of the selected castles and funeral chapels with a specific iconography of the death (memento mori), personified as a skeleton (skull), or through inscriptions. A significant part of the thesis is the intellectual background of understanding the death in the turn of the 16th and the 17th century. As a key for the interpretation will be used a contemporary literature as libri de arte moriendi or other period literature with a symbolism of the death. The above mentioned subject will be presented at the following examples: Castle of Bechyně, funeral chapel at Postřelmov, chapel at Martinický palace and baroque carner at Prague Loreta.
