Bakalářská práce se primárně věnuje procesu otevírání Japonska světu ve druhé polovině 19. století, v tzv. období bakumacu. Období bakumacu je závěrečnou etapou historického období Edo, během kterého vládl rod Tokugawů přes dvě stě let. Hlavním cílem práce bude poukázat na změny v Japonsku především v oblasti politické, vojenské či industriální v důsledku přejímání vlivů ze Západu. Značná část práce bude věnována vztahům mezi Japonskem a jednotlivými zeměmi, např. Spojenými státy americkými, Velkou Británii či Francii. Práce podrobně analyzuje problémy, s jakými se musel tokugawský šógunát potýkat a jak je řešil. Hodnocena je i role knížat daimjó, která značně ovlivňovala politický vývoj během závěrečné fáze období Edo. Klíčové jsou zde změny v 60. letech, které vyústily v pád šógunátu a nastolení restaurace Meidži, což byl jeden z přelomových okamžiků v budování japonského moderního státu. Bachelor thesis primary focuses on the process of opening Japan to the world in a second half of the nineteenth century, in so-called period Bakumatsu. Period Bakumatsu is a final phase of historical period Edo during which ruled family of Tokugawa over two hundred years. The main goal in this work will point to changes in Japan especially in political, military and industrially areas as a result of an acceptance of the impacts from the West. Considerable part of the work will be devoted to the relations between Japan and individual countries for instance United States of America, United Kingdom or France. Thesis in detail analyzes problems with which Tokugawa Bakufu struggled and how he solved them. Also evaluated is the role of lords daimjó who greatly influenced political development during a final phase of period Edo. Here are the key changes in the sixties which led to the collapse of the Tokugawa Bakufu and establishment of restoration Meiji which was one of the breakthrough moments in the building of the Japanese modern state.
