Hnízdní parazitizmus je strategie rozmnožování, která vyvíjí značný selekční tlak jak na hostitele, tak na parazita. V jeho důsledku se tak na obou stranách vytvořily specifické adaptace. Jednou z nich by mohly být akustické projevy mláděte hnízdního parazita. Z několika doposud provedených studií vyplývalo, že mláďata kukačky obecné (Cuculus canorus) mění formu svého žadonění podle hostitelského druhu, který je vychovává. Výsledky těchto prací však byly nejednoznačné a jedním z mých úkolů bylo je ověřit. Jako hostitelé byly zvoleny dva sympatricky se vyskytující druhy rákosníků: rákosník velký (Acrocephalus arundinaceus) a rákosník obecný (Acrocephalus scirpaceus). Struktura žadonicích hlasů mláďat kukačky obecné vychovávaných těmito dvěma hostitelskými druhy se nelišila ani v jednom z měřených parametrů (délka slabiky, minimální, maximální frekvence, frekvence v maximální amplitudě, frekvenční rozsah a rychlost žadonění). Naopak žadonění vlastních mláďat hostitelů se mezi druhy významně lišilo. Navíc byla zjištěna značná individuální variabilita u obou skupin mláďat kukaček. Recentní studie zjistily, že již v průběhu embryonálního vývoje mláďata vnímají zvuky a učí se hlasům svých rodičů. Toto jsem se pokusila otestovat porovnáním žadonění mláďat, která byla ve vejci inkubována v přirozeném... Brood parasitism is a breeding strategy which imposes significant selection pressure upon the host as well as the parasite. Consequently, specific adaptations were formed on both sides. One of the adaptations could be vocal behaviour of brood parasite juveniles. Several conducted studies suggested that juveniles of the common cuckoo (Cuculus canorus) adapt the form of their begging calls according to the host species they parasitize on. However, the outcomes of these studies were ambiguous. Therefore one of my tasks was to verify those findings. Two reed warblers - the great reed warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus) and the reed warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) - living in sympatry were selected as the hosts. The structure of begging calls of common cuckoo juveniles raised by these two host species did not differ in any of the measured parameters (syllable duration, minimum and maximum frequency, peak frequency, frequency bandwidth and calling rate). On the contrary the structure of begging calls of own host juveniles varied significantly among the individual species. Moreover, a considerable individual variability was detected in both groups of cuckoo juveniles.
