The last knowledge of a long-term research has led to fundamental objections to the theoretical concept of our basic standards on earth pressure (EC7-1 and ČSN 73 0037) and to the formulation of more advanced General Lateral Pressure Theory (GLPT). The paper analyzes the concepts of the actual standards and their discrepancies with real soil behaviour. Also, it is shown and explained a new more advanced concept according to GLPT. Poslední poznatky dlouhodobého výzkumu vedly k zásadním výhradám k teoretické koncepci našich základních norem o zemním tlaku (EC7-1 a ČSN 73 0037) a k formulaci pokročilejší teorie obecného zemního tlaku (GLPT). Příspěvek analyzuje koncepce současných norem a jejich rozpory se skutečným chováním zemin. Je uvedena a vysvětlena pokročilejší koncepce podle GLPT.
