Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit, nakolik se postava poručíka Josefa Borůvky z děl Smutek poručíka Borůvky, Konec poručíka Borůvky a Hříchy pro pátera Knoxe blíží ideálu Velkého detektiva. V řešení bylo použito metody komparace sekundární literatury pojednávající o literárním prototypu Velkého detektiva a konkrétních sbírek či povídek. Ve druhé části bakalářské práce jsou literární díla porovnávána s díly filmovými. Provedeným porovnáním jsme zjistili, že i přes některé odchylky můžeme poručíka Borůvku považovat za Velkého detektiva. Přínosem této práce je zjištění, že se Josefu Škvoreckému podařilo do kontextu české literatury zařadit literární typ, který je populární ve světové literatuře a který splňuje požadavky detektivního žánru. Klíčová slova Josef Škvorecký, detektivka, poručík Borůvka, Velký detektiv, stopy The aim of this thesis is to find out how the central character Josef Borůvka in books Smutek poručíka Borůvky, Konec poručíka Borůvky a Hříchy pro pátera Knoxe approximates an ideal of The Big detective. The central character of novels was compared with the characteristics of The Big detective who was described in the secondary sources. In the second part of the thesis, the literature works are compared with the films. The results show that lieutenant Borůvka can be considered The Big detective, however, there are some differences. The thesis discovers that Josef Škvorecký as an author of these Czech literature works made a literature type of the detective who is popular in the world literature and he meets the requirements for the detective genre.
