RESUMÉ Disertační práce se věnuje peripetiím ve vztazích Spolkové republiky Německo a Spojených států amerických během éry kancléře Ludwiga Erharda, tedy v letech 1963 až 1966, kdy jeho partnerem na americké straně byl prezident Lyndon Johnson. Obě země v rámci západního bloku pojilo pevné přátelství, jejich spolupráci ale v daném období narušovalo několik třecích ploch. První z nich byl takzvaný projekt Mnohostraných jaderných sil (MLF): i když obě země patřily mezi jeho největší zastánce, Johnson dříve než kancléř Erhard pochopil, že tento projekt je mezinárodně neprosaditelný a představuje tudíž slepou uličku. Při diplomatických kontaktech obou zemí proto bylo patrné, že Němci se kvůli svému tlaku na uskutečnění MLF dostávají do jisté izolace. Zvláště po té, co Johnsonova administrativa v průběhu roku 1965 začala dávat přednost dohodě se SSSR a Smlouvě o nešíření jaderných zbraní (NPT), Němci ale NPT vstřebávali obtížněji. Dalším konfliktním bodem byla otázka umístění amerických sil ve Spolkové republice, které Washington ekonomicky značně zatěžovalo, a to i kvůli narůstajícím nákladům na válku ve Vietnamu. Johnson proto stále více tlačil na větší kompenzaci amerických nákladů ze strany Bonnu. Erhard naopak usiloval o to, aby tzv. offsetová dohoda byla pro Německo výhodnější, neboť SRN se v roce 1966... The dissertation deals with relations of the Federal Republic of Germany and the United States in the era of Chancellor Ludwig Erhard. At that time, Erhard's partner on the American side was President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Therefore, the subject of my research were the ups and downs through which the relationship between Bonn and Washington went from 1963 to 1966. Both countries were bonded within the Western bloc with solid friendship, but in the given period they ran into a few points of friction that hindered their cooperation. The first issue that was causing tension were the Multilateral Forces (MLF). Although both countries were among the biggest supporters of the MLF, Johnson understood earlier than Chancellor Erhard that this project represented a blind alley. On the diplomatic contacts between the two countries it was evident that the Germans were heading to a certain isolation because of their pressure to implement the MLF. During 1965, Johnson and his administration chose to prefer the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) to the MLF, but for the Germans it was more difficult to absorb this change of priorities.
