Všeobecné sestry v rámci své profese poskytují ošetřovatelskou péči pacientům různých věkových skupin. Poměrně hojně zastoupenou skupinu tvoří senioři. Tato skutečnost je dána prodlužující se průměrnou délkou života, pokrokem medicíny a také polymorbiditou seniorů, která se často stává příčinou jejich hospitalizace. Ošetřovatelská péče o seniory je náročná zejména vzhledem k výskytu řady geriatrických symptomů, omezení kognitivních funkcí a neschopnosti sebepéče. Mnohem náročnější situace pak nastane, pokud stav geriatrického pacienta vyžaduje péči na odděleních ARO či JIP. Označení problematických oblastí v intenzivní ošetřovatelské péči o seniora vede k vyvození případných opatření pro praxi. V rámci bakalářské práce bylo realizováno kvantitativní výzkumné šetření formou dotazníku. Výzkumný vzorek tvořily všeobecné sestry na odděleních intenzivní péče, tedy oborových jednotkách intenzivní péče (JIP) a anesteziologicko-resuscitačních odděleních (ARO). Z celkového počtu 120 rozdaných dotazníků (100 %) se vrátilo 94 dotazníků (78,33 %), které bylo možné použít. Realizace výzkumného šetření proběhla v únoru roku 2012. Bakalářská práce se skládá ze dvou částí, praktické a teoretické. Hlavním cílem práce bylo zmapovat problematiku poskytování ošetřovatelské péče seniorům na ARO a JIP. Cíl byl splněn.... General nurses in their proffesion provide nursing care to patients of different age groups. Quite frequently represented group are seniors. This fact is due to the increase in life expectancy, medical advances and polymorbidity of seniors, which is often the cause of their hospitalization. Nursing care for seniors is particularly challenging due to the occurence of many geriatric symptoms, restriction of cognitive functions and inabillity to self care. Much more difficult situation occurs, if the state of geriatric patient requires care in ARO (Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation) or ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Identification of problem areas in intensive nursing care for seniors leads to infer the possible measures for practice. In terms of this thesis quantitative research was carried out using a questionnaire survey. Research group consisted of general nurses from departments of intensive care, thus professional intesive care units (ICU) and department of anesthesiology and resuscitation. Out of the total number of 120 distributed questionnaires (100 %) returned 94 usable questionnaires (78,33 %). Realization of research survey was conducted in February 2012.
