Cílem mé bakalářské diplomové práce je komparace dobytí Konstantinopole latinskými vojsky čtvrté křížové výpravy roku 1204 a osmanskými Turky v roce 1453. Oba tyto mezníky v dějinách Byzance znamenaly pro říši velikou katastrofu a jejich následky měly dalekosáhlý dopad na všechny struktury byzantské společnosti. Konstantinopol - politické, duchovní a kulturní centrum Byzance - díky svému monumentálnímu hradebnímu systému odolala mnoha pokusům o dobytí a právě tato skutečnost musí nutně vyvolat otázku, proč právě v těchto dvou případech její obrana selhala. V této práci jsem se snažil rozebrat oba pády města v širším kontextu a komparovat je nejen z vojenského a strategického hlediska, kde jsou rozdíly mezi těmito událostmi zcela evidentní. Křižácké vojsko, které v roce 1204 dobylo Konstantinopol, se v žádném případě nemohlo měřit s obrovskou a silně disciplinovanou armádou osmanského sultána Mehmeda II. Soustředil jsem se také na motiv oblehatelů a jejich chování k Rhómájům. S obecně známým stereotypem, že latinové znamenali pro Konstantinopol ve všech ohledech daleko větší katastrofu než osmanští Turci, by se dalo polemizovat. Nejnovější poznatky současných historiků tento obecný názor vyvrací a poukazují především na fakt, že křižáci Byzanc nezničili, kdežto úspěšný útok Mehmeda II. na... The goal of this thesis is the comparison of the Latin conquest of Constantinople by the troops of the Fourth Crusade in 1204 and the Ottoman Turks in 1453. Both of these milestones in the history of the Byzantine Empire meant a huge disaster and its aftermath had a profound impact on all structures of Byzantine society. Constantinople - political, spiritual and cultural center of Byzantium - thanks to its monumental system of its walls resisted many attempts to its conquer and this fact must necessarily set the enquiry of why in these two cases, the city defense failed. In this work I tried to dismantle both of falls in the widespread context of comparison and is not only a military and strategic point of view, where the differences between these events is evident. The Crusaders, which in 1204 conquered Constantinople, in any case could not be measured with a huge and highly disciplined army of the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II. I focused on theme besiegers and their behavior to Romans. With well-known stereotype that crusaders meant to Constantinople greater disaster than the Ottoman Turks, one could argue.
