Cílem bakalářské práce je mapování zahraničních výzkumů zabývajících se vztahem médií (televize a internetu) a dětí v zemích EU za období 1990 až 2010. Televize se v životech dětí objevuje v padesátých letech minulého století a ihned se stává předmětem zájmů mnoha studií. První stěžejní studií, jež předznamenala vývoj tohoto tématu na příštích několik desítek let, je studie Televize a dítě z roku 1958, která proběhla ve Velké Británii. Od té doby došlo ke změně pohledu výzkumníků na dítě, k posunu od zkoumání mediálních účinků ke zkoumání mediálních významů a užívání a k posunu od televize k mediálnímu prostředí. Hlavními evropskými zeměmi, jež se velkou měrou podílejí na výzkumné práci tohoto tématu mezi roky 1990 a 2010 jsou Velká Británie, Německo a Severské země. Většina evropských zemí má dlouhodobou tradici kvalitativního a kvantitativního výzkumu vztahu médií a dětí. Některé země, mezi něž patří i Česká republika, používaly při zkoumání vlivu médií na děti převážně metody kvantitativní. Kvalitativní metody se v těchto zemích zavádějí až po roce 1990. Jedním z nejdůležitějších projektů mapování výzkumu internetu, do kterého je v současné době zapojeno 33 zemí Evropy, se nazývá EU Kids Online. Svůj význam má tento projekt nejen z hlediska toho, že se v rámci něho sdružují a sdílejí informace a... The thesis is focused on mapping of the foreign research on the relation between media (television and the Internet) and children within EU for the period of 1990-2010. Television emerged in the lives of children in 1950s and immediately became the focus of the media studies. First crucial study which has influenced development of media and children research for the next decades was study Television and the child (1958) conducted in Great Britain. Since then we have been able to follow several changes in research agenda. First change is how the child is understood for the research purposes, then the shift from media effects to media meanings and uses and last but not least shift from television to the media environment. The most of media research on children between 1990 and 2010 has been carried out in Great Britain, Germany and Nordic countries. Most of European countries have long tradition of qualitative as well as quantitative research. However, some of the countries (e.g. the Czech Republic) used mostly quantitative methods when conducting media research with children. These countries have implemented qualitative methods after 1990. One of the most important projects of mapping Internet research is EU Kids Online.
