Práce se zabývá dlouhodobým populačním vývojem obcí v souvislosti se železnicí. V rámci práce byly číselně vyjádřeny přírůstky/úbytky obyvatelstva v obcích se železnicí a bez železnice v jednotlivých letech a obdobích. Po digitalizaci železniční sítě za desetiletá období byly k vlastním analýzám i tvorbě map použity Geografické informační systémy. Byla vytvořena série map zobrazujících změny počtu obyvatelstva obcí v dílčích obdobích a vzhledem k aktuálnímu rozsahu sítě. Stručně je uveden vývoj železniční sítě v Česku. Práce prokázala vliv železnice na populační vývoj sídel, zvláště v industriálním období. The thesis is dealing with the long-term population development of municipalities connected with the railway. The thesis includes numerical expression of increases or decreases of population in municipalities with railway and without railway in individual years and ten-year periods. Geographic Information Systems were used for self-analyses and production of maps with the digitalization of the railway network. There was created a series of maps to show changes number of population in municipalities in sub-periods relative to the current range of the network. The thesis briefly describes the development of the railway network in the Czech Republic. The thesis showed the influence of railway on the population development of settlements, especially in the industrial period.
