Cílem této práce je popsat metodou kontrastivní a dvousměrné analýzy fungování příslovečného sousloví en effet ve francouzském textu a na základě korpusového materiálu zjistit, které faktory mají vliv na jeho funkce a významy. En effet má dvě odlišné role, buď funguje jako argumentativní konektor vyjadřující kauzalitu mezi větami nebo jako potvrzující příslovce. To se odráží i v překladu do češtiny, kdy jeho překladovými ekvivalenty mohou být na jedné straně totiž a na druhé skutečně. Tato práce si klade za cíl zjistit, za jakých podmínek převažuje která funkce en effet a zda jeho ekvivalenty uváděné ve slovnících odpovídají reálné praxi. Analýza je provedena na čtyřech typech textů - beletrii, publicistických textech, právních textech acquis communautaire EU a na mluvených projevech poslanců Evropského parlamentu. V těchto textech jsou zkoumány faktory frekvence výskytu en effet, jeho pozice, argumentativní či potvrzující typ a český význam en effet. Tento postup vymezí en effet vůči jeho potenciálním synonymům effectivement a en fait. K analýze je použit materiál jednojazyčného francouzského korpusu Frantext a francouzsko-české a česko-francouzské sekce paralelního korpusu InterCorp. První část práce se zabývá problematikou kauzálních konektorů, en effet a jemu podobnými konektory/adverbiálními... The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the function of the French adverbial collocation en effet by applying contrastive bidrectional analysis on corpus material. The goal is to find out which factors influence its functions and meanings. En effet has two main roles: it either expresses the cause and works as an argumentative connector between sentences or it is an adverb of confirmation. This double role is reflected in the Czech language as well, where the equivalents of en effet can be totiž as well as skutečně. This paper aims to find out which function of en effet prevails in which conditions and whether the equivalents offered in Czech-French dictionaries correspond to the real practical use of en effet. The analysis is done on four types of texts - novels, newspaper articles, law texts acquis communautaire of the EU and the speeches given by the EU MPs in the European parliament. Four factors are analysed: frequency, position and argumentative/confirmative type of en effet in the texts as well as its Czech translations. This will enable us to contrast en effet with its potential synonyms effectivement and en fait.
