Kreatin monohydrát (Cr.H.sub.2./sub.O) je jako suplement využíván především pro zlepšení energetického krytí organismu při fyzické zátěži, oddálení únavy a zlepšení následné regenerace. Kreatin vstupuje do organismu jednak potravou, jednak vzniká endogenně v ledvinách, kde se tvoří jeho základní část guanidinoacetát z argininu a glycinu. Syntéza kreatinu se dokončuje v játrech, kde se pomocí S-adenosylmethioninu (S-AM) nametyluje jedna jeho aminoskupina. Druhá aminoskupina se potom v buňkách tkání, po transportu krví, nafosforyluje pomocí ATP. V této formě slouží jako zásobárna energie. Some people supplement their diet by high doses of creatine (CR) to increase their muscle performace. In this way, they intensify the biochemical processes on cell membranes. The water thus formed is retained in the cells, which increases the body mass. The organism must remove exogenously added CR, probably in a similar way as in removing xenobiotics via oxidation with cyt.P450 to 2C units to cooperation with GSH. Our new simple and cheap voltammetric method enables to estimate thiogycolic (TDGA), the natural product of oxidative catabolism of thiocompounds, excreted to urine in regular catabolic processes.
