Práce má analyticko-interpretační charakter. Převažující analytická část obsahuje rozbor jednotlivých děl české literatury 19. století, popřípadě záznamů lidových vyprávění, v nichž se vyskytuje postava vodníka. Její součástí je krátké vymezení metody: východiskem rozboru charakteru a vzhledu vodníka jsou teorie literární postavy zpracované Danielou Hodrovou nebo Bohumilem Fořtem. Interpretační část postihuje problematiku vodníka jakožto mužské postavy ve vztahu k ženským postavám. Navržené interpretační možnosti spojuje psychoanalytické zaměření. This work has an analytical-interpretative character. The analytical part contains an analysis of individual pieces of czech literature of the 19th century and folk stories which contain the water-spirit character. There is also a brief introduction of the method. The character and look of a water-spirit is analysed according to the theory of a literary character by Daniela Hodrová or Bohumil Fořt. The interpretative part looks on the problematics of a water-sprite as on a relationship between a male and female characters. The suggested options of an interpretation are merged using a psychoanalytic approach.
