This bachelor thesis is focused on a brief analysis of the novels 1984 and A Clockwork Orange. It analyzes their differences, what they have in common and the ways in which George Orwell and Anthony Burgess implement dystopian motifs in their novels. The theoretical part deals with inspirations for both the novels and their connections to the real world and real 20th century totalitarian regimes. The practical part analyses the two dystopian worlds in the novels, their governments, protagonists and languages. It explores the novels with regard to the themes described in the theoretical part. Key Words: dystopia, totalitarianism, 1984, A Clockwork Orange Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na stručnou analýzu románů 1984 a Mechanický Pomeranč. Analyzuje jejich rozdíly, dále co mají společného a způsoby, jakými George Orwell a Anthony Burgess používají dystopické motivy v jejich románech. Teoretická část se zabývá inspiracemi pro oba romány a odkazy ke skutečnému světu a totalitním režimům 20. století. Praktická část analyzuje dystopické světy v románech, jejich vlády, hlavní hrdiny a jazyk. Zkoumá romány s ohledem na téma popsaná v teoretické části.
