Bakalářská práce se zabývá životem prof. Bedřicha Mendla a jeho korespondencí s manželkou Eleonorou Mendlovou. Na základě rozboru této korespondence hledá každodennost českého badatele na služebních cestách po domácích i zahraničních archivech. Bedřich Mendl byl český historik a první profesor hospodářských a sociálních dějin na Filozofické fakultě Univerzity Karlovy. Vyrůstal a studoval v Praze, kde se také seznámil se svou manželkou Eleonorou Mendlovou. V letech 1916 až 1920 působil jako středoškolský profesor v Hořicích. Po návratu do Prahy pracoval pro Státní historický ústav a vyučoval na Karlově Univerzitě. Kvůli svému židovskému původu musel po začátku druhé světové války odejít do penze. Nedlouho poté, v září roku 1940, spáchal sebevraždu. This bachelor's thesis was an analysis of family correspondence of Professor Bedřich Mendl. The thesis sought for everyday life of the Czech historian on his official journeys in both Czechoslovakia and abroad, where he searched in archives for Czech manuscripts. Bedřich Mendl was a Czech historiographer and the first professor of the Institute of Economic and Social History at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. He was raised in Prague where he also met his future wife Eleonora during his studies. From 1916 to 1920, he worked in Hořice as a high school teacher. After his return to Prague in 1920, he became an employee of the State Editorial Institute. He started to teach at Charles University after he gained his venia docendi in 1927. Because of his Jewish origin, he was forced to leave the university in 1940. A few months later he committed a suicide.
