This thesis is dealing with the iconography of the river and sea monsters in Greek and Roman art. The work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with mythology of the river and sea deities, four selected examples are examined (Achelous, Ketos, Nereus and Triton). Deities are examined each from the second to fifth chapter. Each chapter except the first is divided according to the material of the iconographic sources, on the vases, gems, coins, reliefs, sculptures, sarcophagi, etc. Iconographic sources are described in detail in the chapters, primarily those, which are different. At the end of each chapter, except of the first, is a summary, in which are the sources compared and evaluated. In this summary are described the differences of the iconographic sources. Táto práca sa zaoberá ikonografiou riečnych a morských monštier v antickom umení. Práca je rozdelená do piatich kapitol. Prvá kapitola sa venuje mytológii riečnych a morských božstiev, konkrétne štyrom vybraným príkladom (Acheloos, Ketos, Nereus a Tritón). Druhá až piata kapitola sa venuje postupne každému z božstiev. Každá kapitola okrem prvej je rozdelená podľa materiálu s ikonografickými prameňmi, na vázy, gemy, mince, reliéfy, plastiky, sarkofágy, atď. V týchto kapitolách sú uvedené príklady zobrazení, ktoré sú podrobne opísané. Uvádzajú sa hlavne tie, ktoré sa odlišujú. Na konci každej kapitoly okrem prvej je zhrnutie, v ktorom sú pramene porovnávané. Sú v ňom opísané rozdiely v spôsoboch zobrazovania na prameňoch.
