Abstract: The local effect of notches in the form of long cuttingson the development of deformations in the wall of a spiralwelded pipeline were modelled in the course of the hydraulicstrength test of hp gas pipelines. The influence of notchesand the spiral weld on the pipe state of stress wereinvestigated experimentally together with the numericalsimulation of the behaviour of pipes with defects bymeans of the application of the ANSYS programme.
