Abstract: Mechanical analysis of Swanson,s IP joint prosthesis and its interaction with bone based on 3D FE model. The FE model was verified by photoelastic measurement. The checked load cases come out of experiences of surgeons. Both the models show good correspondence and the stresses in the implant are low.
