Fotosyntéza je soubor biochemických procesů, při kterém se mění přijatá energie fotosynteticky účinného záření (PhAR) na energii chemických vazeb. K tvorbě organických sloučenin využívá jako energii pouze světelnou, dalšími zdroji jsou CO2, minerální živiny a voda. Teplo je jeden z nejdůležitějších vnějších faktorů podílející se na životním prostředí rostlin, jeho nadbytečné nebo nedostatečné množství způsobuje rostlinám stres a ovlivňuje všechny biochemické procesy. Podle způsobu fixace atmosférického CO2 můžeme rozlišit celkem tři typy fotosyntézy, C3, C4 a CAM. Rostliny typu C3 a C4 se dále liší rozmezím svých optimálních teplot, kdy rostliny C4 mají teplotní optima obecně vyšší než rostliny C3. Další rozdíly mezi těmito rostlinami spočívají v odlišné fyziologické odpovědi na měnící se klima, tedy především na zvyšující se koncentraci atmosférického CO2 a současně rostoucí teploty. Zvýšená koncentrace CO2 zvyšuje rychlost fotosyntézy u C3 rostlin, kdežto při vyšších teplotách je rychlost čisté fotosyntézy vyšší u rostlin C4. Tyto rozdílné reakce C3 a C4 rostlin na různé faktory prostředí se projevují ve změnách rychlosti čisté fotosyntézy, což v důsledku ovlivňuje i růst, tvorbu biomasy a vývoj rostlin a v neposlední řadě samozřejmě i druhové složení porostu v přirozeném ekosystému a výnos... Photosynthesis, or photosynthetic assimilation, is a set of biochemical processes during which received light radiation energy is changed into energy of chemical bonds. To produce organic compounds, the photosynthesis uses as energy source only light energy and other sources of energy are CO2, mineral nutrients and water. The heat (infrared radiation) is one of the most important external environmental factors affecting plants. Too much of heat or its lack cause plant stress and influence all biochemical processes. Accordin, to the way of CO2 fixation, three types of photosynthesis can recognized- C3, C4 and CAM. Furthermore, C3 and C4 types of plants can be distinguished according to thein optimum temperature range, when C4 plants have optimum temperature ranges generally higher than C3 plants. Another differences between these types of plants consist in different physiological response to the changing climate, above all to the increasing concentration of atmospheric CO2 and simultaneously increasing temperature. The higher the concentration of CO2, the higher the rate of photosynthesis of C3 plants, whereas increased temperature increases the rate of photosynthesis of C4 plants.
