Hlavním tématem práce je hledání vztahu mezi brněnskou architektonickou scénou po roce 1990 a meziválečnou architekturou. Cílem je zjistit, zda dvacátá a třicátá léta vybudovala pro Brno architektonickou tradici, na kterou je možné dnes navazovat, zda se navazuje a jak. Práce není strukturovaná časovou posloupností, ale začíná popisem doby kolem revoluce v roce 1989. Nejdříve bude vysvětleno, co se na poli české resp. brněnské architektury odehrává mezi léty 1945- 1989, dále dění kolem revolučního roku a to jak následně ovlivnilo dobu po roce 1990. V druhé kapitole se smyčkou vrátím do doby meziválečné a bude přiblíženo jak se v tuto dobu Brno a jeho architektura proměnila. Pojem Brněnský funkcionalismu bude vysvětlen na pár konkrétních příkladech dobových staveb a jejich architektů s tím, že další část plynule naváže a vysvětlí jak se vybudovaná tradice promítá do filozofie dnešní generace architektů. Na šesti vybraných stavbách se pokusím nastínit i to, jak se vzory dvacátých a třicátých let v jistých stylových prvcích uplatňují v Brně dnes. The primarary theme of this essay is to find and define relationship between the architecture scene after the year of 1990 and the period between the two world wars in Brno. The main purpose is then to find whether Brno established its own architectonic tradition and style in the 1920s and 1930s, and if so whether the tradition is prominent to this day and how. This essay does not follow a timeline, bbut begins with describing the revolutionary era in 1989. First it is described what was happening in Czech respectively in Brno's architecture in the years from 1945 to 1989, followed by the events of the revolutionary year of 1989 and how it shaped up and influnced the years there after. The second chapter will take us back to the era in between the two World Wars and describe how the architecture and the city itself changed. The term 'funcionalism in Brno' is described in this chapter by showing few examples of buildings and architecs. This will directly shed a light and point out how this established tradition translates to the philosphy of modern generation. Six buildings were chosen to portray how the style of 1920s and 1930s relates to style of today.
