V dnešní době díky kvalitní lékařské péči a ošetřovatelské péči jsme schopni umožnit pacientům žít i několik let pomocí přístrojů. To s sebou přináší nová etická dilemata. V teoretické části práce se snažíme objasnit pojmy související s etikou umírání a smrti v intenzivní péči. Praktickou část práce tvoří kvantitativní průzkumné šetření. Zkoumaný vzorek tvoří zdravotní sestry pracující na oddělení dlouhodobé intenzivní péče.
