Snahou autora této práce byla interpretace dvou téměř totožných objektů nalezených v průběhu rozsáhlého archeologického výzkumu v areálu bývalých kasáren Jiřího z Poděbrad na náměstí Republiky na Novém Městě pražském. Objekty, které byly odkryty s téměř ročním odstupem v letech 2004 - 2005, dělila vzdálenost 50 m. Jednalo se o do podloží zahloubené jámy západovýchodní orientace na jejichž dně bylo odhaleno torzo konstrukce. První z objektů byl značně narušen mladšími zásahy ze 17. století. Z jeho celkové podoby se nám tak dochovala prakticky pouhá polovina. Druhý z objektů, odhalený v ploše vlastního náměstí Republiky (téměř naproti vchodu do kostela sv. Josefa) mladšími zásahy poničen nebyl. Jednalo se o podélnou jámu o délce 4,4 m, maximální šířce (ve střední části) 1,8 m a hloubce okolo 1,2 m. V jejím středu spočíval topný kanál tvořený dvěma řadami diabasových kamenů (délka 0,63 - 1,35 m). Právě ty bývají, vzhledem ke svým výborným tepelně-akumulačním vlastnostem, typickou součástí středověkých pyrotechnologických objektů nacházených v pražském prostředí. Spáry mezi jednotlivými kameny a jejich svrchní partie byly vyplněny mazanicí. Na tuto konstrukci byl vynesen jílový prstenec o vnitřním průměru mezi 0,65 až 0,85 m, přičemž jeho šíře byla od 5 do 20 cm. Výplně zásypů obou objektů tvořily převážně... The intention of this work's author was an interpretation of two almost identical items (pits) found during an extensive archeological research in the area of the former barracks Jiřího z Poděbrad, náměstí Republiky, Prague New Town. Items distant from each other 50 meters were unearthed within one year between 2004 and 2005. The items were represented by the pits sunk in the subsoil oriented west-east. A construction fragments were found on their bottoms. The first of the items was to a large degree disturbed with interferences in the 17th century. Only one half of it has remained until today. The other item, unearthed in the náměstí Republiky area (nearly next to the st. Joseph church entrance) was not destroyed by younger interferences. This was a linear pit 4,4 meters long, maximum width 1,8 meters (in the central part), 1,2 meters deep. There was a heating channel in its center made of two lines of diabase rocks (0,63 - 1,35 meters long). These rocks were commonly used in the fire using items the middle ages in the Prague area because of their heat accumulation capacity. Joints between individual rocks as well as their surface areas were filled with fired clay (puddle). On top of this construction a clay ring was placed (5-20cm wide; 0,65-0,85 inner diameter).
