Abstract: 2,6-Diamino-9-benzyl-9-deazapurine and 9-benzyl-2,6-bis(benzylamino)-9-deazapurine were synthesized by reductive cyclization of the corresponding 6-cyanomethyl-5-nitropyrimidines. Both compounds exhibit cytostatic activity in human T-lymphoblastoid CCRF-CEM cells.
