Disertační práce s názvem Raná symfonická tvorba Bohuslava Martinů a problematika její kritické edice se zabývá dosud velice okrajově probádanou oblastí díla Bohuslava Martinů, tj. obdobím uměleckých začátků, v němž skladatel hledal svou kompoziční řeč. První část práce se snaží o hlubší exkurz do okolností vzniku Nocturna 1, H. 91 a Balady k Böcklinovu obrazu "Villa na moři", H. 97. Přestože dostupné prameny neozřejmují období 1914-1915 v úplnosti, přinášejí nová zjištění. Disertační práce dává do souvislosti Nocturno 1, H. 91, Skladbu pro velký orchestr, H. 90 a Nocturno "Růže v noci", H. 96, jež mohly jako celek tvořit dnes nezvěstnou kompozici meloplastických tanečních scén Tance se závoji, H. 93, komponovanou pro ruskou tanečnici Olgu. V. Gzovskou a uzavírá výklad o osudech těchto skladeb předpokladem, že spolu s Baladou k Böcklinovu obrazu "Villa na moři", H. 97 Martinů zamýšlel tyto skladby nabídnout České filharmonii. Stěžejní část práce tvoří kritická edice dvou orchestrálních skladeb Bohuslava Martinů z období kolem roku 1914, Nocturna 1, H. 91 a Balady k Böcklinovu obrazu "Villa na moři", H. 97, které nebyly nikdy dříve zkoumány a jsou v podobě vydání představovány vůbec poprvé. Součástí edice je podrobná kritická zpráva s odkazy na všechny změny v hlavním notovém textu. Během práce s dříve... The dissertation titled Raná symfonická tvorba Bohuslava Martinů a problematika její kritické edice (Early Symphonic Works of Bohuslav Martinů and Issues Pertaining to Their Critical Edition) deals with a portion of Martinů's compositional output that has so far been investigated only marginally, namely the period of his artistic beginnings when he was seeking his compositional language and technique. The first part of the dissertation attempts a deeper exploration of the circumstances of origin of the Nocturno 1, H. 91 and the Balada k Böcklinovu obrazu "Villa na moři" (Ballad on Böcklin's Painting "Villa by the Sea"), H. 97. Although available sources do not provide a complete picture of the years 1914-15, they do offer new findings. The dissertation describes the relationship among the Nocturno 1, the Skladba pro velký orchestr (Composition for Large Orchestra), H. 90, and the Nocturno "Růže v noci" (Nocturno "Roses in the Night"), H. 96, which may together have formed the now-missing set of dance scenes with recitation Tance se závoji (Dances with Veils), H. 93, composed for the Russian dancer Olga V. Gzovska. The discussion of the fates of these pieces closes with the assumption that Martinů intended to offer them to the Czech Philharmonic together with the ballad on the Böcklin painting.
