Původně zamýšleným cílem práce bylo vyhledat a shromáždit mapy, které byly či jsou součástí tisků 17. a 18. století, a to tisků, které lze označit jako "řádové historie". Odtud i dřívější pracovní název "Mapové přílohy v tištěných dějinách církevních řádů barokní doby". Tyto měly být následně podrobeny vnější i vnitřní kritice a posouzeny - vyloženy - jako svébytný druh historického pramene. Ukázalo se však, že záměr nelze v dané lhůtě v úplnosti uskutečnit, vzhledem k nedostatečné evidenci těchto tisků. Po prostudování dostupných pomůcek (inventáře, katalogy), literatury, četných poradách s pracovníky vybraných institucí, jakož i "anketní akci" v řádových knihovnách (viz přílohy), zůstává objevení každé další podobné knihy věcí náhody. Nezbylo tedy, než téma rozšířit o mapy jiné, samostatně stojící. [1] Ani kartografické prameny ovšem dosud nejsou v České republice souhrnně podchyceny. Roubíkův soupis zůstává pod nes jedinou přehlednou pomůckou, ačkoliv autor v úvodu k prvnímu svazku sám upozornil na jeho neúplnost. Pro dané období uvádí jen nemnoho církevních map a pouhých 12 položek souvisí s vytčeným tématem. Jsou roztroušeny v archivech, knihovnách a muzeích republiky. Ne všechny se podařilo dohledat - tam, kde neodpovídají signatury, kde instituce prošla od 50. let zásadními strukturálními proměnami... A pa per is comprised of four parts. The first part "Map supplements in old prints" gives a brief analysis of the role of map supplements (and cartographic documentation in general) in the ancient cosmo- and topographic literature and informs about the essential ti tl es of this kind. The second part "Maps with religious themes in the context of the evolution of cartography in the czech territory. Present knowledge of their existence." Follows the evolution of cartographic representation in the czech territories and informs about its contents in respect of the church subject. Is also considers the development and purpose of ancient maps. The focus of the paper is represented by a catalogue of maps of religious orders. Each entry comprises of description of map's content and of a short analysis or annotation to it (e.g. data on the used graphic tools for representation of the terrain, borders, data on used symbols, on verba I contents of a map, data on annotations and appendices on a map). The last part brings a general cartographic and pictorial evaluation of the collection of rnaps. Th~ collection is not complete - it is a drawback and the autho:o :s. fully aware of it. Stili the paper is a first step in a field, which hasn't yet been followed systematica"y in specialized literature.
