Americký vztah k válečným zajatcům, přesněji řečeno jeho mediální zobrazení, je hlavním motivem této bakalářské práce. Tato práce si klade za cíl zjistit, zda tento vztah v amerických filmech a seriálech odpovídá reálnému přístupu americké administrativy k zajatcům. Ten se totiž od roku 2001 velmi proměňoval v závislosti na situaci v Afgánistánu a Iráku, ale také ve vztahu k rozhodnutím nejvyššího soudu a podpoře americké veřejnosti. Tato práce čerpá zj. z oficiálních dokumentů americké administrativy, a také z několika vybraných snímků (24 hodin, Ve jménu vlasti, 30 minut po půlnoci a Přízraky z Abu Ghraib). Výchozí teze, že se reálný přístup odrazil i ve snímcích, byla v práci v zásadě potvrzena, avšak rozdíly mezi snímky byly značné, a proto nelze výrok jednostranně paušalizovat. The US attitude towards the prisoners of war, more accurately its media portrayal, is the main theme of this bachelor thesis. The main goal of this thesis is to find out whether this attitude in real situation corresponds with the similar attitude in the US movies and series. The real one has been changing significantly since 2001 depending on the Afghanistan and Iraq situation, and also on the decisions of the Supreme Court of the US and the people opinion. This thesis is based on official documents of the US administration as well as on several movies (24, Homeland, Zero Dark Thirty and Ghosts of Abu Ghraib). The essential thesis whether the real attitude was reflected in the movies was generally confirmed, however the differences between pictures were considerable, therefore the overall generalization is not possible.
