V poslední době získávají stále větší oblibu metody pasivního vzorkování organických polutantů v životním prostředí, ovzduší nevyjímaje. Pasivní vzorkovače jsou v porovnání s klasickým vzorkováním výrazně levnější, jejich obsluha a manipulace s nimi je podstatně jednodušší, ke svému provozu nepotřebují elektrickou energii, takže mohou být bez problémů využity i ve velmi odlehlých oblastech. Jejich charakteristickým znakem je, že odezva má charakter integrativní; je tedy úměrná časově váženému průměru koncentrace sledovaných látek po celé období expozice vzorkovače. Tyto vzorkovače jsou tedy mimořádně vhodné pro potřeby monitoringu. Pro kvantifikaci výsledků je nezbytné stanovit hodnoty vzorkovacích rychlostí pro jednotlivé sloučeniny. V prezentované studii byly tyto hodnoty pro polyaromáty vypočteny na základě porovnání výsledků pasivního vzorkování pomocí SPMDs a klasického aktivního vzorkování. Passive sampling methods gain more and more popularity for the sampling of persistent organic pollutants in the environment, including air. These passive samplers are substantially cheaper than standard active sampling methods, their deployment is simpler, they don't need electricity, thus they can be deployed even in very distant regions. They offer an itegrative response, therefore these samplers are especially suitable for monitoriong purposes. For quantitative evaluation it is necessary to establish the values of sampling rates for individual compounds. In the presented study these values for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were evaluated from the comparison of the results of passive sampling using SPMDs and standard active sampling method.
