Abstract: The identity of the Czech Roma is analyzed as a key problemof the mutual relationship of the Roma minority and the non-Romamajority. Growing social problems of the Roma unemployment, lackof proper education, and other factors of an unprecedented socialdisintegration call for a multi-level action from the stateand other society's institutions. Some hope is seen in the growingnational emancipation of the Roma as a nation united acrossthe borders of many countries.
