Abstrakt: A sequence-related C and O isotope patterns were defined for Devonian platform limestones. In small cycles, the delta 13C and delta 18O values evolve divergently, i.e. from the base to end, the delta 13C values are gradually shifted toward highly positive range, whereas the delta 18O values are gradually shifted to low negative values. A rapid convergence of the delta 13C and delta 18O values terminates the cycle. Sedimentological and diagenetical causes of this and other patterns have been discussed.
