This thesis analyses the impact and the key role of the maritime industry on international trade. It reviews the development of seaborne trade throughout history and the creation of a modern shipping system. Later it analyses each shipping segment and its impact on international trade with goods and commodities, and compares maritime transportation with other modes of transportation. Bakalářská práce analyzuje dopady a značný význam námořní přepravy na mezinárodní obchod. Práce dále sleduje vývoj námořního obchodu v průběhu historie a tvorbu moderního přepravního systému. Dále tato práce analyzuje jak dopad dílčích námořních segmentů na světový obchod s komoditami a zbožím, tak srovnání námořní přepravy s jinými způsoby přepravy.
