The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to clarify the issue of informing employees about their rights and obligations which come out as a result of the employment contracts. At the beginning of this work, there are described the general concepts which are related to the main topic. At the following part there is characterized this informational obligation of the employer regarding to the situation when the employee should be informed about his rights and obligations. In this bachelor thesis, the Directive 91/533/EEC is analyzed and also compared with the Czech legislation. In the practical part, the thesis focuses on violating this employer's obligation regarding to the final report of the Labour inspectorate from 2012. Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je objasnit problematiku informování zaměstnance o jeho právech a povinnostech, který mu vyplývají z pracovní smlouvy. Práce se na začátku zabývá obecnými pojmy, které souvisí s daným tématem. V následující části charakterizuje tuto informační povinnost zaměstnavatele vzhledem k tomu, kdy má být zaměstnanec seznámen s právy a povinnostmi. Směrnice 91/533/EHS je zde rozebrána a také porovnána s českou právní úpravou. V praktické části se práce zaměřuje na porušování této povinnosti podle výsledné zprávy inspektorátu práce za rok 2012.
